The Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway is a high-speed railway connecting Shanghai and Kunming, Yunnan Province. It is one of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway corridors in the "Medium and Long-term Railway Network Planning" (2016 edition). As the longest east-west line in China, it’s a high-speed railway with the longest length, the highest speed and the most passing provinces. The opening and operation of Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway has realized the full coverage of high-speed trains in the Chinese railway bureaus, greatly shortening the time and space distances between southwestern China and southern, eastern, and central-south regions, and further revealing the network effect of China's high-speed railways, which is of great significance to improve regional traffic conditions and promote regional economic and social development.
